First Responder Mental Health

Recently a much needed shift in attention has occurred with regard to the mental health needs of our nation's Veterans. Finally attention is being focused on another population whose mental health needs have largely gone ignored. With a suicide rate nearly double the national adult average, first responders, law enforcement, EMS, fire, and dispatch, have been exposed to events that leave lasting scars on their mental health and have in many instances not gotten the help they need. ResponderStrong, an initiative out of the National Behavioral Health Innovation Center at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is working to change that.
